Weda G Stanford

Weda G. Stanford August 6, 1934 – October 4, 2025

Weda G. Stanford, age 91, of Bartlett, Tennessee, formerly of Amory, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born in Detroit, Alabama, on August 6, 1934, Weda was the daughter of the late John Melton Jeffreys and Icie May Cantrell Jeffreys. She lived a life marked by faith, service, and deep devotion to her family and the Lord.

Weda was a woman of many gifts and was highly respected by all who knew her. She retired from Kellogg’s after a long and faithful career, admired for her strong work ethic, integrity, and kindness. She was also a talented seamstress, an excellent cook, and a creative soul whose love showed in everything she did. Her home was a place of comfort and welcome, always filled with warmth, laughter, and the smell of home-cooked meals.

She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—drinking her morning coffee, reading her Bible, and staying current with the world through her daily newspaper. These quiet rituals reflected her thoughtfulness, grounded spirit, and lifelong pursuit of wisdom and faith.

Weda’s greatest joy came from her relationship with the Lord and the love she shared with her family. A devoted member of Bellevue Baptist Church, she loved playing the piano and singing hymns—her music a blessing to all who heard it. She was bold, outgoing, funny, and compassionate, with a generous heart that always put others first. She never met a stranger, and her presence made people feel seen, loved, and at home.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, James Earl Stanford; her siblings: Mildred Jeffreys Hester, Rhea Jeffreys Collins, Avis Carter Gosa, Victor Jeffreys, Connie Jeffreys, and Lonnie Jeffreys; her son-in-law, Richard Earl McDowell; and two grandchildren.

Weda is survived by her three children, Debra McDowell, Eddie Stanford (Jackie), and Michelle Corbett (Joe); her four grandchildren, Bethany McDowell, Christy Willey, Staci Kirkpatrick, and Brooke Stanford; and eight great-grandchildren.

Weda G. Stanford will be remembered as a woman of strength, grace, and unwavering faith. She was a highly respected matriarch, a loving mother and grandmother, and a true servant-hearted soul who always put others before herself. Her legacy of love, laughter, music, and godliness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
