Tommye Castle, a devoted father, grandfather, and brother, passed away on May 8, 2025, at the age of 76, at NMMC-Amory. He was born on January 12, 1949, in Rosedale, Mississippi, to R.D. Castle and Isabelle Markum Castle. Tommye's life was deeply interwoven with the landscapes of the Mississippi River, where he proudly served as a captain and pilot on a riverboat. Known for his loyalty, honesty, and steadfast character, he touched the lives of many.
With an education that extended to the eleventh grade at Rosedale High School, Tommye was not one to shy away from expressing his thoughts. His personality was marked by a forthrightness that many admired, and his loyalty made him a cherished friend and family member.
Tommye had many interests outside of his professional life. He took great joy in fishing and hunting, often sharing these passionate pursuits with his best friend, Zan Brunetti. His love for nature was rivaled only by his fondness for simple pleasures, such as saying "beans and cornbread" which brought a smile to his face and those around him.
Tommye is survived by his loving daughters, Candice Perry, Robin Castle (Mark Grimes), and Marjorina "Margie" Taylor (Steven). He was a proud brother to Virginia Thompson (Donald), Darlene Estes (Johnny), Teresa Neathery (Carey), Bertice Jones (Robert), Billy Castle, Ronnie Castle (Brenda), and Bobby Castle. His legacy continues through his grandchildren Alan Castle, Tiffany Reed (Austin), Chelsey Taylor, Zachary King (Dixie), Mikey Perry, Noah Taylor, Scooter Reed, and his great-grandchildren Penelope, Davina, Elliott, Oliver and Evelyn.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jean Thompson Castle; father, R.D. Castle; mother, Isabelle Castle; sister, Ann Hudson; and grandson, Jessie King.
The life of Tommye Castle will be honored with a visitation on May 13, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, held at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory, Mississippi. Pallbearers will be Alan Castle, Zach King, Noah Taylor, Austin Reed, Michael Perry, Zan Brunetti. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mickey Perry, Steven Taylor, and Scooter Reed.
Tommye's deep love for his family, along with the memories he created with them, ensures that he will be remembered warmly by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
