Sammy Joe Williams, Jr.

Pontotoc – Sammy Joe Williams, Jr., 51, passed away on October 14, 2023 at his home in Pontotoc, Mississippi. He was born May 23, 1972, to Sam and Barbara Williams in Lake Providence, Louisiana.

Joe’s family moved from Louisiana to Mississippi where he attended schools in Fulton, MS. He initially worked at Henry Tires in Amory and later he worked off and on at G & G roofing and sheet Metal as well as Tidwell Drywall.

Joe enjoyed the outdoors. He loved hunting. He loved riding ATV’s and motorcycles. He found joy in watching old tv shows. Most of all he enjoyed time with his children and grandchildren. At times he could be hard headed but he always loved and joked around with those he cared about. He would always bring a smile to your face when he would say “If you don’t believe me, ask me”. Joe was of the Pentecostal faith and believed in Jesus. His family is thankful for how he took care of them through the years. They will miss him so much.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Williams, Pontotoc; daughters, Jessica Williams, Gattman, and Carolyn Crum (Nathan), Mantachie; son, John Williams, Pontotoc, MS; grandchildren, Jalie Gilbert, Gattman, Brooklyn Crum, Mantachie; parents, Sam and Barbara Williams, Amory; sisters, Nadine Williams, Amory, Reba Williams, Amory; nieces/nephews, Makayla Williams, Alexis Randolph, Hunner Guyton, Leighanna Guyton, and Joshua Guyton.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Williams; grandparents, Hershal and Louise Oliver.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory, MS on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at 2:00 pm with Bro. Phillip Blaylock officiating. Burial will follow in Fig Hill Cemetery with Pallbearers being Hunner Guyton, Joshua Guyton, Timothy Collins, Josh Webb, Nathan Crum, and Harold Guyton.

Visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday from 1:00 pm until the service hour at the funeral home in Amory, MS.
