Rosemary Harris Gillentine

Amory – Rosemary Harris Gillentine, 75, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 as the sun was setting. She was born on August 8, 1947, in Amory, MS to the late Shelby Lee Harris and Mary Alice McCullough Harris-Robison.

Rosemary grew up in Monroe County and graduated from Amory High School with the Class of 1965. She attended Mississippi State University and graduated in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She loved children and she taught 1st grade for many years. Rosemary was always encouraging children to learn new things and master the basics of English and math. In addition to her school children, she was blessed by God with three children and seven grandchildren.

She was a faithful Christian and was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. Rosemary was loving and compassionate and she loved her family and friends tremendously. Her faith in God was evident in how she served and cared for others. She loved music, especially Elvis, gospel and old school country. In addition to spending time with her family and friends, in her free time, she loved shopping, crafts, and reading a good book.

In her later years, she became a resident at Diversicare in Amory, where she met many new friends and was cared for with so much love. She was quite the active social member there and she enjoyed all the activities and just visiting with new friends and the staff. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends, yet they know that she is at peace in the presence of her Lord.

She is survived by her son, Charles “Chuck” Harris Gillentine (Maria), Atlanta, GA; daughter, Carla Gillentine Deegan (Christopher), Severna Park, MD; grandchildren, Tabitha Gillentine, Shelby Gillentine, Corbin Adriano, Mary Edith Deegan, Charlie Deegan, Jaden Driscoll, and Maggie Deegan.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Casey Gillentine Driscoll of Georgia.
