Robert Lee Smith

Robert Lee Smith, a devoted patriot and dedicated family man, passed away on April 25, 2025, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi. He was born on March 19, 1955, in Middlesboro, Kentucky, to the late Cecil Wilmoth and Mary Wyatt. Robert led a life marked by service, love, and laughter and will be missed greatly.

Throughout his life, Robert served honorably in the military, dedicating 22 years of his life to protect and serve his country in the Army. He notably served with the 82nd Airborne and fulfilled the important role of JROTC instructor at Sandy Hook, Kentucky. His commitment to excellence was recognized through numerous medals and ribbons, including the Army Service Ribbon, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, and the Meritorious Service Medal, among others. Robert was a proud member of the Aberdeen VFW, reflecting his dedication to those who served alongside him.

After retiring from military service, Robert continued his professional journey at Sara Lee Corporation, where he exemplified the same diligence and dedication he exhibited in the armed forces. His spirit of service and hard work left a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to know him. He was a great provider and was blessed by God with two loving wives, two great sons, three great stepsons, many grandchildren and a large extended family.

Robert's personality shone brightly through his love for the outdoors. He cherished moments spent fishing, camping, and gathering with family. His zest for life was evident in the joy he found in simple pleasures such as enjoying time with his grandbabies and taking care of his dogs. A spirited jokester, he often delighted friends and family with playful pranks, leaving them with fond memories that will be cherished forever.

He is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Smith; his sons, Christopher Smith and Lisa, and Scottie Smith and Casie; stepsons, Andy Jaco and his wife Kayla, Lonnie Jaco and his wife Jessica, and Rocky Jaco and his wife Landry; along with grandsons, Ray Smith, Jacob Smith, Christian Jaco, Abel Stone Jaco, and Britton Smith; and granddaughters Maya Jaco, Kenzlie Merritt, Maddie Jaco, Emily Owens, and Meri Myles Jaco. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Isabella Smith.

Robert was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his sons, Brenda Smith; his parents, Cecil Wilmoth and Mary Wyatt; and his brothers Kenny and Alvis. He also mourned the loss of his sisters Margie, Caroline, and Tammy.
