Ricky James Dodd, a beacon of joy and resilience, left this world on February 9, 2026, in Amory, Mississippi. Born on July 4, 1965, in Tupelo, Ricky carried the spirit of independence and celebration throughout his life, embodying the very essence of what it means to live with purpose and positivity. He was a proud father and a devoted grandfather, whose life revolved around the love he shared with his family.
In all that he did, Ricky maintained a sunny disposition, making him a treasured companion among those lucky enough to cross his path. His vibrant personality drew others in, and he loved nothing more than to be surrounded by his family, creating memories that would last a lifetime. His favorite saying, "Be Positive," became more than just words; it was a mantra that resonated through the laughter at family cookouts and the quiet moments shared while hunting, fishing, or camping.
Ricky faced a hard battle with cancer, a struggle that tested his courage yet shone a light on his unwavering spirit. Through this journey, he remained a happy person, demonstrating the strength of character that defined his life. He took great pride in his children and grandchildren—James Vincent Dodd, Samantha Leigh Dodd, granddaughters Sierra Dodd and Remington Pace, and grandson Kenneth Jackson—who were not just a source of joy but the proudest accomplishments of his life.
In honoring Ricky’s memory, family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation on February 16, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory, MS. Following this, a Celebration of Life will commence at 2:00 PM, commemorating the laughter and love that Ricky brought to those around him. His journey will conclude with a burial at Haughton Memorial Park at 2:45 PM, where he will rest among the roots of the land he loved.
Ricky’s legacy will live on, not just in the hearts of his loved ones but in the kindness he inspired in others. As pallbearers—David Foster, Hunter Foster, Scotty Pace, and Kenneth Jackson—carry him to his final resting place, they will not only bear his physical form but also the immense love, joy, and positivity he brought into this world.
Rest in peace, "Slick Rick", and may your spirit continue to inspire those of us who were fortunate enough to know you.
