Nelda Sue Stanford Gray
Hatley-Nelda Sue Stanford Gray was born on September 7, 1936, in the Bethlehem Community to the late Lee Roy and Itie Mae Sullivan Stanford. She passed away on Friday, November 3, 2023 at North MS Medical Center–Hospice, in Tupelo, Mississippi. She graduated from Smithville High School, where she played girl’s high school basketball. The majority of her life was spent as a homemaker in Hatley.
The simple pleasures in life brought great joy to her – gospel music, paint and canvas, working in her garden and tending to her flowers. The most popular room in her home was her kitchen, where she treasured time spent there with loved ones. She loved the Lord and was an active member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
The many memories made throughout the years with friends and family will be cherished for years to come.
Survivors include two daughters, Paula Kellum (Jeff) of Brewer, Kim Spotts (Keith) of Hatley; one son, Scott Berryman (Kathy) of Hatley; four granddaughters, Staci Young of Dorsey, Alisha Parham (Drew) of Hatley, Morgan Spotts of West Point, & Mia Spotts of Hatley; four grandsons, Dusty Kellum of Brewer, Matthew Martin (Kelly) of Hatley, Brian Berryman (Tabitha) of Guntown, Michael Spotts of Hatley; twelve great- grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Gray; four brothers, Raymond Stanford, Bill Stanford, Donald Stanford, and Calvin Stanford; four sisters, Minnie Lee Carter, Evelyn Noe, Ann Chambers, & La Verne Pope.
Pallbearers will be Dusty Kellum, Brian Berryman, Matthew Martin, Michael Spotts, Dillon Young, & Zach Hawkins.
Graveside services will be held Sunday, November 5, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Hatley Cemetery with Bro. Bennie Loveless officiating. E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory will be in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 12:30 until 1:40 p.m. at the funeral home in Amory, MS. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to N.M.M.C. inpatient Hospice
