Amory- Millard “Sonny” Loden passed Thursday July 24, 2025. He was born March 9, 1936 to the late Charlie Burrett Loden and Vera Olie Hadaway Loden. Sonny married Barbara Parham Loden April 27, 1956. He was a veteran of the US Army-drafted 1958-issued out 1960 upon his father’s death. Served in Germany, making lifelong friends. Wanting to start a new profession, he started working Autobody work with his brother. Later worked at Fowlkes Ford as shop Foreman. In 1968, he built his own shop (Amory Body Shop). Years later due to burn out as cars were more expensive with thinner metal, lots of plastic he had the chance to change to Amory Glass Company which he passed on to his son.
Sonny was a very skilled person and had talent to do most any job. He never minded working and seemed to enjoy it. Never being one to sit around, he had honey bees, was always a guitar player expanded to the banjo and piano. He was known as our local “Merle” as he knew nearly all his songs. His joy was to play with his sons and later go to bluegrass festival events.
He leaves behind his wife, Barbara Parham Loden; sons, Alan Loden (Heather) and Kelby Loden (Lisa); grandchildren, Ethan Loden, Evan Loden, Luke Loden, and Alyssa Loden Cable (Andrew).
He was preceded in death by Syble Loden Benson, Edith Loden Whitten, Charlie Mae Loden Hester, Travis Loden, Betty Jean Cook, Farrar Loden, Jerry Loden, and Ramona Gardner.
