Melanie Chism

Amory - Melanie Dawn (Gray) Chism, 52, peacefully entered the arms of Jesus on August 8, 2024. Melanie was born June 30, 1972, to James “Mike” Gray and Billie Tyus Gray in Amory, MS.

She grew up in Monroe County and attended Amory High School and Itawamba Community College. She worked for many years as a receptionist/secretary. 

Melanie was the proud mother of two precious daughters, Lindsey Hester (Levi) Hatley Ms. and Madison Gilland (John Morgan) Nettleton, Ms. and the grandmother of Camden, Kynlee and John Grady. She regarded raising her family as her greatest accomplishment and spending time with her grandchildren brought her so much joy.

She was a Baptist and enjoyed going to the beach, spending time with her family and listening to 80’s rock. Those who knew her best describe her as spunky, headstrong, independent and loving.

She will be missed by her family and friends, but they take great comfort in knowing she is rejoicing in heaven.

Melanie is survived by her children, grandchildren, her mother Billy Tyrus Gray, Amory, Ms., a brother Robert Gray (Valarie) Hatley Ms., and aunts Guin Tyrus (Nashville, Tn.) and Lindy Murphy (Pontotoc, Ms.) 

She was proceeded in death by her father, Mike Gray and her uncle, Dr. Dwayne Tyus.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life Visitation Service on Friday, August 9th from 5-8 p.m. at EE Pickle Funeral Home, Amory, Ms.
