Aberdeen- Linda Sue Peoples Jones, 80, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at her home in Aberdeen, MS. She born on February 5, 1945, in Lee County, Mississippi to the late Hershel and Olena Laney Peoples.
Growing up, Linda attended college for two years and then began a career working at Baptist Hospital in Memphis, TN. She worked for over twenty years in Memphis and later transferred to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. While working at the hospitals she worked as a transcriptionist in the X Ray department.
She married Jack Jones and together they were blessed with over 15 years of marriage and two precious children. Linda loved to be with her family and her loving parents and grandparents had a big influence on her life. She was a wonderful aunt and great aunt to her nieces and nephews. She had a great sense of humor, loved to dance, laugh and was a good cook. Some of the skills in cooking she acquired through her membership with the Homemakers Club in Aberdeen.
She believed in the Lord and was a member of Common Ground Church in Nettleton. In her downtime, she enjoyed creating original artwork, working primarily in oil and acrylic paints. Whenever she had the opportunity, she enjoyed a road trip to wherever with the ones she loved. Some of her closest friends, beside her husband, was “Cowboy” Jim Ruckhaber and his wife Arlene.
All the great memories made through the years will be cherished by her family and friends. Linda will be greatly missed yet the ones who love her are at peace that she is in her new Heavenly home.
She is survived by her son, Jason Wayne Jones, Oxford; sister, Carolyn Shurden (James), Aberdeen; niece, Amanda Nielsen (Douglas), Aberdeen; Nephew, Randy Magers (Christy), Columbus; great-nieces and great-nephews, Gabriella, Sabrina, Justin, Tyler, Emily, Christopher, Hegan, Christina and Keelee.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Jones and her daughter, Amanda Jones.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025, at 6:30 pm at Riverbend Baptist Church in Aberdeen, MS with Bro. Mark Robbins officiating.
