Kathy Butler

Kathy Butler, a beloved teacher and devoted wife, passed away on June 10, 2026, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Born on February 7, 1970, in Monroe County, Kathy’s gentle spirit and unwavering kindness touched the lives of countless individuals throughout her life.

A cherished member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Aberdeen, Mississippi, Kathy’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. Known for her sweet nature and her ever-present question, "How can I help you today?" she was a constant source of support and compassion. Kathy dedicated her professional life to teaching, nurturing young minds with patience and love. Her passion for education was rooted in a rich academic journey that began at Fulton High School and continued through Itawamba Community College and Mississippi State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. Alongside her teaching profession, Kathy also held credentials in registered nursing, a testament to her deep commitment to caring for others. Her love for languages led her to become an active member of the Mississippi Foreign Language Association, enriching her teaching and connecting with her community in meaningful ways.

Beyond the classroom, Kathy’s heart found joy in sewing, crafting pieces imbued with the same care she showed to her students and family. She delighted in listening to her husband Wayne’s music, proudly referring to herself as “Wayne’s roadie,” always present and supportive in his musical journey. Kathy’s life was a beautiful blend of dedication, warmth, and love, a tapestry woven with the threads of family, faith, and friendship.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Wayne Butler, whose music and love they shared so deeply. Kathy also leaves behind her brother, Eric Hileman, and a host of nieces and nephews who will forever cherish her memory and the special role she played in their lives.

She was preceded in death by her mother and two brothers.

A visitation will be held on June 15, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at St. John’s Episcopal Church, located at 402 West Commerce Street, Aberdeen, MS 39730. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 PM at the same location, with Rev. Mary Howard King officiating.

Kathy Butler’s kindness was a beacon that illuminated every room she entered. Her passion for teaching, her unwavering support for her husband, and her warmth toward all who knew her will be deeply missed but forever treasured. Through her gentle spirit, Kathy taught not just academic lessons but the meaning of true compassion and service. She leaves behind a legacy of love, care, and inspiration that will continue to guide and uplift those fortunate enough to have known her.
