Joyce Foster was born on July 10, 1943, in Corinth, Mississippi, and left this world on June 27, 2025, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished sister, and a treasured friend, known for her warm spirit and unwavering faith.
A graduate of Tupelo High School in 1962, Joyce dedicated her life to her career, serving as an auditor for Levi Strauss at Lucky Starr in Nettleton and later as a secretary for Inmon's Furniture for over two decades. However, her proudest accomplishments were her family and the love and guidance she imparted to them. She often expressed that raising her children was her greatest joy.
Joyce was a faithful member of the Bethel Apostolic Church in Amory, where her love for the church and her church family was palpable. Her personality shone brightly through her kindness; she was a Godly person who never met a stranger. She shared countless moments of laughter and love with her closest friend, Wanda Rhudy, as they traveled together, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
In her leisure time, Joyce enjoyed reading, traveling, scrapbooking, and painting, engaging in activities that reflected her creativity and passion for life. As a former member of the Tupelo Business Women's Association, she was actively involved in her community, contributing to the lives of those around her.
Joyce was the beloved spouse of Roy S. Foster for sixty-three years and devoted mother to Robby Foster (Stacy) and Roy S. Foster Jr. (Rebecca). She leaves behind a legacy of love with eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, along with one on the way, and one sister, Sue Frye. Her family meant everything to her, and they will forever carry her spirit within them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fermon Gilliam and Milred Parker Gilliam, as well as her sisters, Jeanie Whitt and Lynn Awad, and her brother, Jerry Gilliam; and a special person she will be reuniting with is Haley Jade Foster, her granddaughter.
Joyce's unwavering faith was encapsulated in her favorite saying, "God's got this," which she shared as a reassurance to those who needed it most.
The visitation and celebration of Joyce’s life will be held on July 2, 2025, at Bethel Apostolic Church in Amory, Mississippi. Friends and family are invited to gather from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM for visitation and then at 2:00 pm for a Celebration of Life Service to honor and remember the wonderful life she led with Bro. Pallbearers will be Rick Foster, Will Foster, Rocky Foster, Hunter Foster, Chandler Allen, Blake Allen, Justin Richardson, and Auzie Myatt.
