John Knight Jr.

John Knight Jr., born on March 15, 1960, in Miami, Florida, passed away on July 16, 2026, in Corinth, Mississippi. He leaves behind a legacy defined by hard work, and an enduring love for the simpler joys of life.

John was a skilled painter whose talents in home improvement were well known to those around him. His commitment to his craft was evident in every project he undertook, as he strived not just for excellence in his work, but also took great pride in improving the lives and spaces of his family and friends. Through countless hours spent painting, repairing, and building, John’s hands shaped many a home with dedication, care, and an unmistakable personal touch.

Beyond his professional life, John found his greatest joy in his passions and those he loved. He had a deep love for horses and riding, and cherished memories on the dairy farm in Kentwood, Louisiana. The open fields, the peace of being among horses, and the faithful companionship of dogs were a continual source of happiness and comfort for him. Family and his Baptist faith stood at the core of John’s happiness, along with old country music and laughter-a testament to his enduring love for both traditions and togetherness.

Those who knew John will remember his dry sense of humor, and his unique way of lightening any room or situation. He had the rare gift of making others laugh while maintaining a humble, unassuming presence, a combination that endeared him to all who crossed his path.

He is survived by his children: his daughter, Amy Turbeville (Thomas); his sons, Bryan Knight, and Rufus Lee Boggs(Misty). He is also mourned by his siblings: Cathy Brooks (George), Judy Phillips (Roy), Billy Godwin (Sandra), Lisa Grice (Tommy), and Monteen Castella. John’s step-father, William Godwin, shares in the sorrow of his passing but also the celebration of his life.

John was preceded in death by his parents, and his beloved wife, Mary Fowler Knight.
