Jewel Dean (Cantrell) Lyle

Amory- Jewel Dean (Cantrell) Lyle, 85, became completely healed and joined her Lord and Savior on July 30, 2024. She was born June 23, 1939 to the late John Cantrell and Lottie Mae Strawbridge Cantrell.

She grew up in Monroe County in a large loving family of eleven children. She graduated from Amory High School, and on December 21, 1956 at the age of 17, Jewel married the love of her life Richard H. Lyle. They were married for 60 wonderful years before his passing in 2017. A hard worker, she was employed as a Seamstress at Amory Garment and Wilson Manufacturing.

Jewel loved the Lord and was a member of the Amory Church of Christ. In her free time, she enjoyed shopping for purses and clothes, listening to country and gospel music, and playing with and tending to her animals. The most important things to her were her faith, family, and her animals. The thing she enjoyed most in her life was spending time with her family. Jewel especially loved being with her beloved grandchildren and watching them grow up. Her two best friends were Faye Burt and Bernice Mize.

She will be missed by her family and friends. They take comfort in knowing she is now reunited with God and her precious husband, family and friends who have gone on before.

She is survived by two sons, Bill Lyle (Lisa), Amory, and Rick Lyle (Tammy), Athens Community; five grandchildren, Matt, Zach, Aleah, Breanna, and Deanna; and five great-grandchildren, Micah, Abby, Natalie, Finnley, and Jamie Faye.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Hoyle Lyle; parents, John and Lottie Strawbridge Cantrell; five brothers; and five sisters.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at 11:00 am at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory, MS with Bro. Danny Burks officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Gardens with Pallbearers being Matt Lyle, Zach Lyle, Roger Tidwell, and Richard Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Gerald Park and Staff. 

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024, from 10:00 AM until the service hour at the funeral home in Amory, MS. 

Donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and Le Bonheur Hospital.
