Amory – Mrs. Jane Cole, beloved mother and devoted wife, passed away November 4, 2024. She had a determined spirt and faithfully supported her husband Dr Robert Cole, who passed away about 2 years prior. She lived most of her life in Amory, Mississippi raising four children.
She was born in Lafayette, Indiana the daughter of Ralph and Edith German and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1954 as the valedictorian. She received a full scholarship to St Lukes School of Nursing in Chicago, Illinois and graduated in 1957 with a diploma in nursing. She then went from there to the University Of Cincinnati School Of Nursing to obtain a bachelor of science in nursing. While taking full time courses at school, she worked 32 hours/week on the night shift at Cincinnati General. It is here where she met her husband, Dr Robert Cole. They were married in June 1959 and moved to Amory in 1963 where she was alongside her husband as he had many years of private practice working at Gilmore Memorial Hospital in Amory. Dr. and Mrs. Cole were members of the First United Methodist Church in Amory and together went on medical mission trips in South America. In the retirement years, they spent time with children and grandchildren and travelling to all the continents.
Her life was dedicated to raising four children instilling in them the values of hard work, integrity, and a commitment to being productive members in society.
Mrs Cole is survived by her three daughters, Carolyn Bouchard (Charles Bouchard), Karen Jones (Dr Perrin Jones), and Rebecca Cestaro (Phillip Cestaro) and her son, Robert J Cole Jr (Nicola Cole). She has 13 grandchildren, Nathan Cole, Nicholas, Cole, Bonnie Cole, Robert J Cole III, Anna Bouchard, Christa Bouchard, Perrin Jones, Adam Jones, Joshua Jones, Caroline Jones, Anthony Cestaro, Grace Cestaro, and Lucas Cestaro. She has 2 great grandchildren, Lena Cole and Noah Jones. She is also survived by her sister, Judith Kay German.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death her sisters, Betty German and Suzy German, and her brother, Robert German.
