James B. (Jim) Wilson

Hatley – James B. Wilson (Jim), 85, finished his work here on earth and began his new life in Heaven on Thursday, August 22, 2024. He was born on April 7, 1939, in Denton, Texas to the late Woodrow Wilson and Janice Boyd Wilson.

Jim grew up in Texas and graduated from Marshall High School in Marshall, Texas. He went on to further his education and obtained a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1962 at the University of Texas in Austin, TX. He was a brilliant man and worked for many years as an engineer at Chance Vault Aircraft Company. A hard worker and great provider, he was blessed by God with a devoted wife, Carolyn Stevens Wilson along with four children, James Steven and John Mark Wilson and Chad and Chris Jackson. His career carried him to Huntsville, Alabama for many years and after retirement, Jim and Carolyn settled in Hatley where they enjoyed life and each other as well as their families. For many years, they had a farm in Monroe County and he had a hobby of showing walking horses. He enjoyed working in the yard as well as being at his farm.

He was a caring and giving person and loved the Lord with all his heart and soul. His friends and family always felt his love and genuine concern whenever they were around him. He was a longtime member of Meadowood Baptist Church and he was a Sunday School teacher for many years. Jim liked to listen to Gospel music as well as Blue grass music. In his downtime, he liked to travel with Carolyn, around the world as well as showing his prized horses through the years. Jim really enjoyed the outdoors and traveling with the Sprouls to various places. He liked going to antique car shows and tinkering with his antique car. So many great memories were made through the years.

Of all his great accomplishments in life, he was most proud of the family God gave him. He leaves behind a great legacy of wisdom, faith, kindness and most of all love. Those, who knew him, will miss him so much and there is great confidence that he is with our Lord and Savior.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Stevens Wilson, Amory, MS; sons, James Steven Wilson (Debbie), North Ridgeland Hills, TX, Chad Jackson (Ruth), King George, VA, and Chris Jackson, Fayetteville, AR; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Ann Jane Fulkerson, Rockwell, TX, and Janice K Perry, Houston, TX; 3 sisters-in-law; 4 brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, John Mark Wilson and his sister, Mary Tipping.
