Geraldine Stafford Nicholson Demathieu
Wren – Geraldine Stafford Nicholson Demathieu, 87, passed away at her residence in Wren on Tuesday, November 28, 2023. She was born on October 18, 1936 in Saltillo Mississippi to the late James Howard and Jettie Clouse Stafford.
Geraldine grew up in a large family with three brothers and two sisters. She attended school in both Lee County and Monroe County and she liked to play basketball in High School. After school, she went to work at a young age to help her family. She worked for many years in the furniture industry as a seamstress at both Futorian Furniture and Action Industries. A woman who loved family, she was blessed herself by God with four children and a large extended family which she adored. Geraldine married Pascal Demathieu in 1987 and for many years they hosted family at their home for wonderful gathering. Geraldine loved to cook and grill out and was always the best hostess whose love for others just shined.
She loved God and was a member of Central Grove Baptist Church in Wren. She was beautiful inside and out, a loving, happy soul who never met a stranger. The faith she had in the Lord was steadfast and she influenced so many lives around her. That same faith was passed onto her children and through the trials in their lives they have had that amazing faith to lean on. She was passionate about St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and Lebonheur Children’s Hospital as children had a special place in her heart.
You could always count on Geraldine to be late but when she got there she was always the life of the party. She had the obvious gift of gab and she was always talking to others while bragging about her family. Geraldine liked to listen to country music, especially Dolly Parton and Elvis Presley. Most of all, she loved to visit with friends and family.
The legacy of love she gave her family and friends will live on in their hearts forever. Please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers in the days to come.
