Amory – Frances Warren Reeves, 83, passed away on June 28, 2025, at North Mississippi Medical Center, Tupelo, MS. She was born on July 30, 1941, a daughter of the late Reverend ID Warren and Dot Warren.
Frances was a longtime member of Grace Chapel Baptist Church and attended schools in Lee County where she was a high school Beauty Queen and was chosen to compete in Miss Mississippi pageant. Soon after competing in the competition, she was offered a job with Dr. Pepper where she became a “Dr. Pepper Girl”. Her first marriage was to Kenneth Keith. Then she married Earl Reeves and together they raised three wonderful children.
Frances was an independent, strong and courageous lady. She had a great love for animals, nature, family and mankind. She loved to grow flowers and watch butterflies fly across the flowers. Frances had a natural talent of growing vegetables. In her younger years, she loved to can the vegetables she grew and cook them for her family. She loved to sew and enjoyed crocheting blankets, dollies and tablecloths. She also loved to travel to Mexico and the Caribbean Islands.
Even though she loved all these things, she would rather be working. Especially after the kids were grown. She loved to be able to help care for people and that is why she became a nurse. Frances enjoyed every aspect of nursing and she started her career as an aid, moved up to an LPN position and later on to become a Registered Nurse. She worked all positions in those fields from taking classes to teaching classes. Frances assisted Dr. Sierra as his RN where they opened the first heart clinic in Amory at the Hospital. This led the way for many other clinics to be opened at the hospital and in the surrounding area. On her days off or after a long shift, she was the ambulance nurse alongside Earl Frye for many years. So to say she enjoyed working as a nurse was an understatement.
The family would like to thank all the Home Health Caregivers and all the doctors and fellow nurses that care for their mother through the years and especially those who helped since April of this year. She loved being a nurse and had great respect for each of you!
Frances is on her Heavenly Peaceful Journey now. The memories made and her true legacy will be carried on by her loving family.
She is survived by her daughter, Lana Reeves Cook, Amory; grandchildren, Cody Cook, Amory and Brandy Reeves Witt, Atlanta, Georgia; great-grandchildren, Brantly Sage Cook, Amory and Aurora Vera Reeves Witt, Atlanta, Georgia; and a brother, Larry Warren (Louise), Tupelo, MS, and a host of nieces, nephews, and step-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two sons, Kenny Reeves and Rory Reeves as well as many more loved ones.
