Donna Thompson, a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on June 29, 2025, at NMMC-Tupelo, MS. Born on August 13, 1956, in Amory, MS, to the late William and Velma Crenshaw. She spent her life surrounded by the warmth of her family and friends, embodying a spirit of hard work and generosity.
Throughout her career, Donna made notable contributions to her community, having been employed at various local establishments such as Town House Furniture in Smithville, MS, and Burger Shack in Hamilton, AL. Her role as a waitress at J&V Smokehouse showcased her exceptional customer service and ability to connect with others. Later, she took on the position of Supervisor for the sewing department at Styleline Furniture, where her dedication and leadership were evident.
She attended Hatley High School, Donna remained a lifelong learner, embracing every opportunity to grow and share her knowledge. Her passion for life extended beyond the workplace; she found joy in simple pleasures such as fishing, cooking, and enjoying the sounds of Chris Stapleton and Leonard Skynyrd, reflecting her love for country music. Though she faced challenges, her enduring spirit inspired all who knew her.
Family was of utmost importance to Donna. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Vickie Lynn Watkins, and her cherished sons, Christopher Crenshaw (Misty) and Jonathan Thompson (Brittney). She took immense pride in her 20 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, who were a source of great joy and accomplishment in her life. Donna also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews and her special friend, Toni Thompson.
Preceding her in death were her husband, John Thompson; parents, William B. Crenshaw and Velma J. Crenshaw; siblings, Sybil Ray Carter, Willie Mae Thompson, James Rye Crenshaw, and Herschel D. Crenshaw; and son-in-law, Stanley Watkins. Donna's legacy of love and support will live on through her family and friends.
As a devout Christian, Donna's faith guided her life and provided strength in times of hardship. She found solace in her love for nature, often traveling to the mountains to reconnect with the world around her and her cherished family.
Visitation will be held on Monday July 7, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at EE Pickle Funeral Home located at 500 3rd Avenue South, Amory, MS. Following this, a funeral service officiated by Bro. Dennis Smithey will take place on the same day at 2:00 PM, concluding at 3:00 PM at the same location.
Donna Thompson will be remembered for her unwavering dedication, her warmth, and the love she freely shared. Her indelible spirit lives on in the hearts of those blessed to have known her.
