Dollie Jewel Cadden, 58, passed away August 15, 2025 at her residence in Amory following a long battle with cancer. She was born on October 8, 1966, in Leland, MS to Ernest “Sonny” and Margaret Smith Cadden.
Dollie was a 1984 graduate of McNairy Central High School in Selmer, Tennessee. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from The University of Mississippi in 1989 and furthered her education at Mississippi University of Women, obtaining a Master of Science in Nursing becoming a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner in 2007.
Dollie held many great nursing positions including Baptist Memorial Hospital, Surgicare and Capitol Orthopedics in Jackson. She was also employed in the Medical Clinic at Nissan in Canton. Dollie spent many years as a travel nurse including assignments in New Orleans, Atlanta, Kansas, Kentucky, Panama City and Fort Walton, Florida. Living at the beach in Navarre and then Pensacola, Florida, she developed a love for sailing. She took classes and started sailing with a group that became special friends to her. She took part in races and regattas and joined the Pensacola Yacht Club. She was also a member of Central Church in Pensacola Beach.
Dollie loved her “boys” and took special care of her cats Casper and Boo.
She is survived by her mother Margaret, brothers Lee and Carl (Sherri) of Amory, her nephew Blake (Caitlin) and their children Katherine and Brooks of Franklin, Tennessee; her niece Kelsey of Oxford, her special cousin Terri Hughes (Russell) and their son Cooper of Tupelo. She also leaves behind many other cousins and special friends she made throughout her career.
She was proceeded in death by her father, her grandparents V.L. and Jewel Smith and Ernest and Sue Cadden and her sister-in-law Kathy Cadden.
Services will be held at 3:00 pm Tuesday, August 19, at Pickle Funeral Home in Amory with Dr. Joe Brennan officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 until service time at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
