Dillard Nash, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and respected member of the Amory community, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026, at Oak Tree. Born in Amory on May 23, 1935, Dillard lived a life marked by dedication, kindness, and a genuine love for people and family.
Dillard’s journey began with his education at Phillip School House and Hatley School, later advancing to Mississippi State where he cultivated knowledge and character that would guide him throughout his life. His career was diverse and impactful, including roles at Kerr McGee, Windshield Surgeon, and serving as a Justice Court Judge, positions that reflected his commitment to service and justice.
Throughout his life, Dillard was widely recognized in the community for his warmth and his efforts to connect with new people wherever he went. He was a man who embraced travel with enthusiasm, always eager to explore new places and experiences. Yet, it was in the simple pleasures that he found his deepest joys—hunting, fishing, rooting for the Mississippi State Bulldogs, gardening, and his unique collections of coins, knives, and instruments.
Dillard was a devoted member of the Amory Church of Christ, anchoring his life in faith and fellowship. He took immense pride in his church, his family, and helping others, living by the heartfelt principle that he never met a stranger.
He is lovingly survived by his wife of 64 years, Peggy Nash; children Dawn Nash Hill and Dan Nash; grandchildren Kyle Holloway (and Caitlyn), Ryan Hill (and Vanessa), and Rachyl McGonagill (and Dylan); and great-grandchildren Nash and Fraya Holloway, Livvy Carol, Lucy McGonagill, and Lyah Olmos-Hill. Their lives were deeply enriched by his presence, guidance, and love. Dillard was predeceased by his parents, Hefmond Nash and Ila Mae Nash.
His closest friends, Hubert Howard, Rubel Adams, and EJ Nash, stood beside him through life’s many seasons, sharing in adventures and memories.
Family, friends, and community members are invited to honor Dillard's memory with a visitation on May 18, 2026, at the E. E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory, Mississippi, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Following the visitation, a Celebration of Life will be held at the same location from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM with Leslie Grant officiating. Pallbearers will be Tony Dill, Terry Dill, Benny Dobbs, Keith Nash, and Rick Sanderson.
Dillard Nash’s life was one of meaningful connections and steadfast commitment to those he loved and served. His legacy of kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit will remain a beacon to all who knew him.
