Derek Gray, a cherished resident of Columbus, Mississippi, passed away on December 26, 2025, at the age of 51. Born on June 10, 1974, in Columbus, Mississippi, Derek was known for his warmth and deeply loving nature. He spent many fulfilling years as a residential painter, where his dedication to his craft earned him the respect and admiration of coworkers and clients alike.
Derek was not only a skilled painter but also a devoted family man. His love for family was evident in the countless cookouts he organized, creating cherished memories for those he held dear. Derek's siblings were his closest friends, and together they shared laughter, support, and a bond that many could only aspire to have. He is survived by his father, Alton Gray (Gail); his mother, Pamela Taylor Gray Wheeler (Stan); his beloved son, Derek Gray, Jr.; and another son, Blake Gray. He leaves behind his brothers: Stacey Gray (Lisa), Chris Gray (April), and Nicholas Shane Gray (Brigitte), along with his sister, Amanda Rowzee (Charly). "We all love you, Son! and God Bless!"
1 Corinthians 13: 4-8
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
