Danny Wayne “Mudpuppy” Baughn

Amory – Danny Wayne “Mudpuppy” Baughn, 64, passed away at North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice and met his Savior face to face on Wednesday, June 12, 2024. He was born on July 11, 1959, in Amory, MS to the late Hansel D. Baughn and Hattie Mae Riley Baughn.

Danny grew up in Monroe County and went to work at a young age. He had a great work ethic and worked many places during his lifetime. He worked in a maintenance position at both Sprint Boat and Duo Fast Manufacturing in Amory, MS. He also worked for 15 years at Hickory Springs Manufacturing in Verona, where he won many awards and at Arvins in Tupelo. His last line of work was landscaping and he loved working for himself, for his company, D & M Landscaping in Amory, MS. To say he was a great provider is an understatement and his family was so important to him.

He was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Smithville, MS and he just loved people. A true outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and considered himself a rebel and true country boy who of course preferred being outside at all times. Mudpuppy could ride a four-wheeler anywhere and he loved to listen to country and gospel music. He was a firm believer of the second amendment, loved his country, and he was a member of the State Line hunting club. Some of his closest friends were James “Jabbo” Holloway, Larry Farrar, David Stanford, and Bill Holloway.

Danny loved God and was most proud of the family he was blessed to raise. He leaves behind so many good memories and love for his family to cherish for a lifetime.

He is survived by his mother, Hattie Mae Riley Rossi, Bigbee Community, MS; son, Michael Wayne Baughn, Bigbee Community; fiancé, Kathy McCalmon, Marietta, MS; stepsons, Devin Michael and Dillon Rogers; granddaughter, Addison Michael, all of Marietta, MS.

In addition to his father, Hansel “Hank” Baughn, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Bro. Thomas Rossi.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, June 17, 2024, at 5:00 pm at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory, MS with Bro. Robert Fowlkes officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park, Amory with Pallbearers being Larry Farrar, Michael Baughn, Devin Michael, Dillon Rogers, James “Jabbo” Holloway, and Frankie Williamson.
