Bro. Mont Dale Whitlock, a devoted United Methodist preacher with a remarkable 50-year career in ministry, passed away peacefully at his residence in Nettleton, Mississippi, on December 18, 2025. Born on October 17, 1935, in Pine Grove, Mississippi, he embodied a life dedicated to serving others and enriching the spiritual lives of countless individuals across multiple communities.
A proud alumnus of Ole Miss, Dale earned his Bachelor's Degree before furthering his education with a Master's Degree from Memphis Theological Seminary. His commitment to his faith journey saw him become an “Elder” in the United Methodist Church, as well as a distinguished 32nd Degree Mason. His contributions to the church and widespread revivals extended beyond traditional preaching, as he was also passionate about television ministry on the Fulton and Tupelo stations, reaching audiences far and wide.
In addition to his academic achievements and pastoral duties, Dale served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the Army National Guard, exemplifying dedication and leadership in both military and civilian life.
Dale's commitment to his family was unwavering. He is survived by his loving wife Annette Whitlock, to whom he was married on May 4, 1956. Together, they raised a family that includes their son, Roger Whitlock (Marsha) of Little Rock, MS, and their daughter, Kelli Whitlock Lindsey (Kirk). Dale took great joy in his role as a grandfather, cherishing his grandchildren Morgan Morris (Aaron) and Brett Smith (W.T.), both of Little Rock, MS. He relished the moments spent with his great-grandchildren, Colton and Miley Morris, and Riggins, Rivers, and JT Smith, often traveling to watch them play sports, which brought him immense happiness.
Throughout his life, Dale maintained a variety of interests. He was an avid woodcarver, an art that reflected his creativity and patience. Additionally, he was known in the local community for his skill as a fast-pitch softball pitcher, gaining respect and admiration from peers and players alike.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Ollie and Louise Roberts Whitlock, and two siblings, Jean Young and Don Whitlock. His legacy, marked by a profound commitment to faith, family, and community, will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Friends and family are invited to honor Dale's life and legacy during a visitation on December 21, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM, at E. E.
