Coy Ardell Hill, Sr.
January 30, 1938 - April 29, 2026
Coy Ardell Hill, Sr., 88, went home to be with the Lord on April 29, 2026, while surrounded by his family. Born on January 30, 1938, in McNairy County, Tennessee, he lived a life marked by unwavering faith, devoted service, and a deep love for his family and the Kingdom of God.
The son of Apostolic ministers, Coy was baptized at the age of 10 in a cow pasture pond during a revival his father was preaching—a moment that helped shape the course of his life. He was ordained with the United Pentecostal Church International in 1967 and became pastor of Bethel Apostolic Church in Amory, Mississippi, in January 1968, serving faithfully until December 1998. He continued as Bishop of the church until his passing. For 36 years he served as Presbyter for Section 2 of the Mississippi District, and he played a foundational role in establishing the Men's Ministry of the Mississippi District. His ministry extended internationally through partnerships in missions, outreach, and Bible school work, including a church built in his honor in Nicaragua.
Beyond ministry, Coy lived a remarkably full life. He studied electronics at the Milwaukee School of Engineering, worked as a television repairman in Chicago, and was recognized as Salesman of the Year at JCPenney. In 1968, he and his brother Bobby opened Black's Department Store in Amory, a cornerstone of the community for many years. He later earned his ATP pilot's license and co-founded Hill Brother's Flying Service. He served as President of the Quincy Water Association, Civitan Club, was active in the Chamber of Commerce, and was instrumental in the creation of the Amory Railroad Festival. He also served on the Monroe County Airport Board and the Board of Directors for Tupelo Children's Mansion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Henry Hill and Manie Sartin Hill; his brother, Bob Hill; and his great-grandson, Jaxson Blaylock.
He is survived by his loving wife, Margie Hill; his children, Patricia Blaylock (Steve), Andrea Blaylock (Stan), and Coy Hill, II (Christine); his grandchildren, Amanda Culbertson (Mark), Emily Gatlin (Joel), Craig Blaylock (Lanita), Jimmy Blaylock, Stanton Blaylock (Raven), Andrew Blaylock (Amber), Hillary Blaylock (Ryan), Dalena Mapp (Bruce), and Coy Hill, III (Taylor); 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild, all of whom brought him his greatest joy; brother, Larry Hill, Sr. (Bonnie); and a sister, Debbie Davis (Larry); many many friends, and his extended family, the members of Bethel Church.
Coy Ardell Hill was a builder of churches, a mentor of ministers, a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and a man whose legacy will carry on through the generations he loved and led.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 3:00 pm, on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Bethel Apostolic Church, Amory, MS with Rev. Larry Hill, Sr., Rev. Stanley Blaylock and Rev. Steve Blaylock officiating. There will be a private family burial with his grandsons serving as Pallbearers.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at the church on Friday, May 1, 2026, from 5:00pm until 8:00 pm. Additional visitation hours will be on Saturday from 2:00 pm until the service hour at the church.
