Catherine M. Allen

Amory - Catherine Ming Allen, 98, started her new life in Heaven on Friday, November 25, 2022. She was born on November 30, 1923, in Lee County, Mississippi to the late Hubert and Ida Mae Baker Ming.

Catherine grew up in close knit family in Monroe County. She attended school for a short while and began helping her family out during the great depression. Catherine married the love of her life, Earnest L Allen on February 26, 1944, in Monroe County and together they shared many wonderful years until he passed in 1982. Not one to shy away from hard work, Catherine worked as a Seamstress at the Amory Garment Factory for many years. She was independent, strong willed and loved her community.

Her faith in God was the rock which grounded her through hard times. The relationship she had with God was evident to all that met her and she was passionate leading others to Jesus. Catherine was a faithful member since 1954 of the Nettleton Church of Jesus Christ. Catherine loved to listen to Old Hymns and Gospel music. She had a soft spot for the less fortunate and was always willing to lend a hand to others.

In her free time, she loved to shop for clothes and shoes and look for unusual antiques. Catherine loved to travel and visited many places during her lifetime. She enjoyed sewing, reading, and eating out. She was an independent lady who had a great spirit. She will be missed dearly by all that knew and loved her.

She is survived by her nieces, Shelby Jean Lister, Carolyn Ann Miller, Rachel Karen Mack, Sylvia Kay Ming-Ghee, Virginia Lee Ming, and Mary Jane Proskey; nephews, Gaynor Perkins, and Bobby Perkins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest L. Allen; brother, John C. Ming; sisters, Winnie P. Wright, Charlotte Waltz, Norene Inmon, and Christine Hall.
