Carolyn Jean McCoy Bilski, born on February 16, 1965, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, departed to her heavenly home on September 21, 2025, in Tupelo, Mississippi. She was a vibrant tapestry of talent and warmth, known to those who loved her as a jack of all trades. A dedicated hairdresser, sewing machine operator, and cook, Carolyn's hands were always busy, crafting not just beautiful hairstyles and delicious meals but also cherished memories with her family.
A proud graduate of Smithville High School in 1984 and Vaughn's Beauty College, Carolyn embodied a hardworking spirit coupled with a passionate, spunky personality. She thrived in her many roles, most importantly as a mother and grandmother, where she found true fulfillment. Her greatest pride came from gathering her family around the table, feeding them with love and support, and witnessing the success of her children. She cultivated joy in every moment spent with them, and each shared meal encapsulated the depth of her devotion.
Carolyn's love for life extended beyond her family; she delighted in antiquing, sewing, gardening, traveling, exploring caves, and engaging in arts and crafts. Such pursuits were reflections of her multifaceted character, which drew people to her magnetic spirit. Among her closest friends were Margaret and Lavies Vaughn, Sandy Bell, and Tasha Browning—companions who shared laughter and cherished moments throughout the years.
Married for four years to David Bilski, Carolyn's heart was large enough to embrace all who crossed her path. Her love echoed in her favored sayings, “I love you always” and “It is what it is,” simple yet profound truths that resonated with those who knew her.
Carolyn leaves behind an enduring legacy in her beloved family: her husband, David Bilski; her children, Kayla Cryder (Cody), Allen Franklin (Cameron), and Jacob Morris; as well as her father, Weston McCoy; her sister, Tammy Fredrick; her brother, Weston McCoy; and her sister and brother-in-law, Patty and Stanley Barrett. Her memory will be lovingly carried on by her grandchildren: Saylem, Willa, Hudson, and Amilee, alongside numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a special mention for Ella Browning and family.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley McCoy; her brother-in-law, Robin Frederick; and her grandson, Jack Cryder. Carolyn Jean McCoy Bilskis life was defined by the beautiful family she built and the laughter she shared—a life well-lived and a heart well-loved.
Her visitation will be held on September 24, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home in Smithville, Mississippi, beginning at 1:00 PM. As those who knew her gather to honor her memory, they will undoubtedly carry forth her spirit of love, resilience, and unwavering dedication to family and faith.
