Bobby Wiygul

Bobby Wiygul, 85, of Amory, Mississippi, peacefully journeyed home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, July 24, 2026.

Born on June 24, 1941, in Itawamba County, Mississippi, Bobby was the son of the late Floyd and Blanch Wiygul. He was raised in Amory and graduated from Amory High School with the Class of 1959.

Following graduation, Bobby answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Air Force, where he faithfully served for four years. During his military service, while stationed in Albuquerque, New Mexico, he met the love of his life, LaVonne Peter. The two were married in 1964 and began building a life together. While living in Albuquerque, they welcomed their first child, Scott. After completing his military service, Bobby and LaVonne returned to Mississippi, where they welcomed their daughter, Traci.

Bobby dedicated many years of service to Rockwell International, later known as Delta Machinery, where he was respected for his hard work and commitment.

A man of faith, Bobby was a longtime Methodist and a member of Amory First Global Methodist Church.

In his later years, Bobby found great joy in spending time with family and friends. He loved fishing, cheering on Ole Miss athletics, watching golf, and enjoying life’s simple moments. Above all, he treasured his family. One of his greatest delights was his only grandchild, his beloved granddaughter, Claire, who brought immeasurable joy and pride to his life.

Bobby was preceded in death by his beloved wife, LaVonne Wiygul; his parents, Floyd and Blanch Wiygul; an infant grandson, Alex Wiygul; and a special friend, Lee Miller.

He is lovingly remembered by his son, Scott Wiygul (Ellen); daughter, Traci Wiygul; granddaughter, Claire Wiygul (fiancé Clay); sister, Virginia Harris; nephew, Greg Harris (Karen); niece, Karen Sweeney (Bob); along with numerous extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers at Oak Tree Manor Assisted Living, Gentiva Hospice, especially Kim Mills and Abigail Isaac, for the exceptional care, kindness, and comfort they provided during Bobby’s final days. The family also wishes to recognize Bobby’s special friends at Oak Tree—Ellihue Tubb, Earl Bunch, and Barbara Thompson—for their friendship.

A graveside service will be held with Rev. Wesley Pepper officiating on Wednesday, July 29 at 1pm at Haughton Memorial Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Turner, Ronnie Hester, Greg Harris, and Pete Patterson.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Amory Animal Resource Center in Bobby’s memory.

Though he will be deeply missed, Bobby leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, love for his family, and unwavering kindness. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
