Bernice Elois "Lois" Brown Brasfield

Bernice Elois "Lois" Brown Brasfield, a paragon of love and compassion, departed this earthly realm on September 2, 2025, at NMMC-Amory, leaving behind a legacy that reflects the essence of true humanity, enriched by her unwavering faith and devotion to family. Born on November 15, 1939, in Hamilton, Mississippi, Lois's life was a testament to kindness and unconditional love, extending warmth to all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Lois was a diligent employee who devoted a significant portion of her professional life to the Pullman Couch Company and retired from the City of Amory following 25 years of dedicated service, with the last 19 spent as Secretary to the Mayor. Her organizational skills and attention to detail were qualities that did not go unnoticed, earning her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and community.

A proud graduate of Becker High School in 1957, Lois carried forth an education that laid the foundation for her future endeavors, along with a spirit of service that flourished through her membership in the Junior Auxiliary of Amory. Deeply embedded in the fabric of her community, she was a faithful member of Amory First Methodist Church, where her love for the Lord radiated throughout her life.

Her personality, as tenderhearted as it was vibrant, drew countless friends near, including her dearest companions Howard and Neva Moon, and Glenda and Bobby Cox. Lois found joy in her relationships, whether through shared laughter or moments spent in heartfelt conversation.

At the forefront of Lois's proudest accomplishments stood her beloved family: her sons, Ricky (Susan) Brasfield and Brad (Neita) Brasfield, and her cherished grandchildren—Whit (Audrey) Brasfield, Eric (Alicia) Wylie, Lindsay (Buzz) Abney, and Taylor (Austin) Stanfield. The joy of her life continued with her great-grandchildren: Bo Abney, Riley Reese Stanfield, Brady Mark Stanfield, Easton Wylie, and Lola Noy, all of whom brought her immeasurable delight.

Lois's kind spirit was further complemented by the enduring bonds she shared with her brother, Freddie (Pam) Brown, and her special nieces and nephews: Shirley Brown, Kenny Brown, Vicki Cunningham, Jay Cunningham, Dewayne Brown, and Karen Roberts. In contrast, her heart bore the weight of loss with the passing of her son Mark David Brasfield, her cherished husband of 63 years, Lee M. Brasfield, and her parents Clarence and Ruby Brown, along with her sister Virginia and brother-in-law Morgan.

Lois found joy in simple pleasures—flower gardening, cooking for her family, and passionately cheering for the Atlanta Braves, alongside warmly embracing the soulful melodies of Elvis Presley. As she nurtured her garden and gathered her loved ones around the dinner table, she embodied the grace of a loving matriarch whose favorite sayings, such as "Sweet Dreams," lingered in the hearts of those she cherished.

As a farewell to this extraordinary woman, a Visitation will be held on September 5, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Amory First Methodist Church, followed by a Celebration of Life commencing at 11:00 AM with Rev. Wesley Pepper officiating. She will then be laid to rest in the Amory Historical Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
