Audrey Wilson

Audrey Arzella (Byars) Wilson, formerly of Becker, Mississippi, and a resident of Marietta, Mississippi, for the past fifteen years, passed away peacefully on June 29th, 2026, at the age of 90.

Audrey was born on November 25, 1935, near Tracy City Tennessee, the sixth of seven children born to Joe and Maude (Taylor) Byars. Throughout her life, she exemplified strength, faith, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family and community.

Audrey leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and service. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Affectionately known as “MawMaw” by her grandchildren, she treasured every moment spent with her family and took great pride in becoming the matriarch of five generations.

A hardworking and dedicated woman, Audrey spent many years as a sewing machine operator at Colonial Manufacturing. She later worked for Walmart before enjoying her retirement years in the Marietta community.

Above all, Audrey was a faithful Christian who loved the Lord with all her heart. She attended First Assembly of God in Aberdeen, where she found joy in worship, reading God’s Word, listening to Christian music, and sharing her faith with others. Her gentle spirit and willingness to witness to those around her reflected the depth of her relationship with Christ.

Audrey also had a remarkable love for flowers and gardening. Roses were her favorite, but she found beauty in every flower she encountered. She possessed a special talent for nurturing plants and could often start new flowers from a single leaf. One of her proudest accomplishments was receiving the “Yard of the Month” award, a testament to the care, dedication, and love she poured into her garden.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Maude Byars: and her siblings, Byrtle Dykes, Verna Coppinger, Floyd Byars, Don Byars Deloris Dykes, and Mary McDaniel.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Kenneth Lockhart (Darla), Glen Lockhart (Pam), Michele Jackson (Larry), Dwayne Lockhart (Vicki), and DJuanna Johnson (Frank); thirteen grandchildren; twenty-nine grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

One of Audrey’s favorite scriptures was Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” This verse reflected the faith, perseverance, and strength that guided her throughout her life.
