Sheaffer C. Humphries
Smithville – Sheaffer Carmax Humphries, 74, finished his work here on earth and began his new life in Heaven on Sunday, August 6, 2023. He was born on June 5, 1949, in Fulton, MS, to the late Melvin A. Humphries and Lorene Jackson Humphries.
Sheaffer grew up in Fulton, MS and graduated from Itawamba County High School with the Class of 1967. He went on to further his education at Itawamba Community College where he obtained an Associates of Applied Science majoring in Architecture. At a young age, he started working with his father in a garage repairing cars, trucks and tractors for people in the community. Later, he worked in a furniture factory as a spreader. His main career, was serving the country that he loved, as a full time Master Sargent for the United States National Guard. He served for many years and later took on the position of Veterans Service Officer. As a service officer, he was passionate about helping his fellow Veterans and assisting them with getting benefits that they deserved and needed. He was a hardworking, pensive man who took the extra time to make sure all the details were correct. Sheaffer was kind, cared for others, and had a great dry sense of humor.
He was a Christian, believed in God, and his family meant the world to him. He married the love of his life, Cathy Tramel Humphries on April 17, 1987, and they spent over 35 wonderful years together. God blessed Sheaffer with a wonderful family, three daughters, three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. In his down time, he liked most to spend time with grands and build things with his hands. Sheaffer was a character who liked to listen to R & B as well as country music. His life touched so many people through his career and service to the United States and for that we are all grateful.
His family and friends have great faith that he is completely healed. They will miss him dearly until they meet again.
