Robert Stroup

February 24, 1943 - September 25, 2020

Robert Smith Stroup, Jr. Wren – Robert Smith Stroup, Jr., passed away on Friday, September 25, 2020 at North Mississippi Medical Center, Tupelo, MS. Born on February 24, 1943, in Houston, MS, he was a son of the late Smith Stroup and Florence Clark Stroup. Robert grew up in a very large family in Chickasaw County. He was the last of twelve siblings, blessed with many years of great relationships in his large family. He was a hard worker and retired from a Chair Manufacturing Company. Robert married Ella Mae Dodd on February 7, 2002, and they had many happy years together. He was a wonderful Christian man and loved his church, Bigbee Baptist Church. A true servant, Robert loved the Lord. His family and friends will miss him dearly, yet they have peace knowing that he is now in the Lord’s presence. Left behind to treasure his memories are his wife, Ella Mae Dodd Stroup, Wren; son, Kenny Wise (Debbie), Wren; two grandsons; one granddaughter; eleven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Kevin Stroup; seven Sisters, Oma Earlene Reese, Ruth Lovan, Barbara Graham, Lorene Pate, Ruth Orr, Louise Mooneyham, Bobbie Jean Stroup; four brothers, Leon Stroup, Billy McCoy, Ralph Stroup, and Rubel Stroup. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm, on Monday, September 28, 2020, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory with Pastor Justin Haynes and Bro. Johnny Hill. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park, Amory, MS. Visitation for family and friends will be on Monday from 11:00 am until the service hour at the funeral home in Amory.
