Marie Rieves Tubb

February 26, 1929 - January 17, 2019

Amory— Marie Rieves Tubb, 89, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at her residence. She was born on February 26, 1929 in Smithville. Marie graduated from Smithville High School. During her childhood, she was a member of Smithville Baptist, then later attended Primitive Baptist churches. She met the love her life, Douglas Tubb, and they married on August 12, 1952. She loved her family and doted on her grandchildren and greatchildren. She always made time to be there for her family and spend time with them. Marie was a problem solver, and she always spoke her mind. She was a hard worker and a great gardener. In her free time, she enjoyed mowing her yard and sewing. Marie liked watching Dr. Adrain Rogers preach on the television; she also enjoyed watching the stock market. Marie was very fond of Old Southern Gospel music. Her faith in God guided her every day, and her love for her family was a great cornerstone in her life. Marie has reunited with her Creator, and though she will be missed dearly, her life will be celebrated and remembered. Marie is survived by her daughter, Debra Marie Carter (Jerry), Amory; son, Michael Douglas Tubb (Debbie), Amory; grandchildren, Amber Carter Smith (Glenn), Cory Carter, Jessica Tubb King (Shannon), Jason Douglas Tubb (Hillary); great-grandchildren, Cayden Smith, Colbie Grace Smith, Blaise King, Brannen Douglas King, Walker Douglas Tubb, Marley Ann Tubb, Sara Catherine Tubb; sister, Mavis Parham, Asheboro, NC; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Ralph Tubb; three sisters, and five brothers. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2PM on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory, with Dr. Lloyd Sweatt and Bro. Mark Thornton officiating. Burial will follow in Hatley Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Shannon King, Steve Fowlkes, Tommy Tubb, Larry Haney, Sam Mitchell, and Glenn Smith. Jason Tubb and Cory Carter will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be from 12PM-1:50PM, Saturday, at the funeral home.
