Donald Ray Merideth Sr.

June 7, 1935 - October 9, 2018

Amory— Donald Ray Merideth Sr., 83, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, October 9, 2018. Born on June 7, 1935, he was a son of William and Cecil Lovejoy Merideth. Don graduated from Amory High School, where he was the quarterback for the football team. He was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church in Aberdeen. Don was a member of the United Transportation Union. During his career, he worked for the Frisco Railroad, which later became the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. Don enjoyed spending time with his family and sharing fellowship over fried catfish. In his free time, he liked to listen to the “oldies,” including Patsy Cline, Waylon Jennings, and Willie Nelson. Don watched Mississippi State football games, and was fond of catfishing and hunting. He was well known for his fried fish and hushpuppies. Don treasured his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed. Don is survived by his daughter, Melanie Elizabeth “Missy” Merideth, Bass, TX; son, Donald Ray “Peanut” Merideth Jr., Amory; and grandchildren, Max Stevens, Courtland Ray Merideth, and Keighly Elizabeth Merideth. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Merideth; brothers, Bill and James Merideth. A graveside service will be held at Haughton Memorial Park at 2PM Thursday, October 11, 2018 with Dr. Lloyd Sweatt officiating. The family has requested that everyone attending the service meet at the cemetery at 1:50 PM. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at eepicklefuneralhome.com
